Corn snakes are one of the most sought after pet snakes since the hobby became popular. Corn snakes have very simple requirements, they are very gentle, they do not get very large, and they come in numerous different color phases.

Housing: Hatchling Corn snakes can be kept in a 5-10 gallon aquarium with adults needing only a 20 gallon aquarium. Aspen shavings make for the easiest substrate, they are easy to clean up, and are visually pleasing to many people. Corn snakes need very simple setups, a water bowl, and a hide box.

**Once the Corn snake is established and eating well, you can add all different kinds of cage décor to make it that much more interesting to you and the animal.

*Make sure to lock the lid of the cage down, because as the snake grows, they may be able to push the top off if it is not secured.

Heating: Corn snakes do very well with belly heat. Use a Zoomed Reptitherm under tank heater as the heat source for the snake. Do not use an overhead light as it does not provide the same kind of heat needed to digest as effectively.

Feeding: Feed young Corn snakes every 5-7 days a mouse no larger than the thickest part of the body. Most small Corn snakes will eat pinkie to fuzzy mice. Once adults they can be fed every two weeks, usually a large mouse at one time.

Health Issues: Corn snakes are very hardy creatures that come from this area. They are relatively common on southern parts of the east coast of the US, so issues that you will see in many other animals will likely never appear in a cornsnake.
